Dyslexia

December 19, 2010

Dyslexia has been interpreted in different ways. It is the most common disability in children and persists throughout life. It can hinder a person’s ability to read, write, spell, and sometimes speak. It is always better to treat dyslexia sooner and it is never too late to learn to improve their language skills. Dyslexia may affect several different functions. Children with dyslexia have the difficulty in learning due to impairment in the brain’s ability to translate images received from the eyes or ears into understandable language. This should not be taken as mental retardation, brain damage, or a lack of intelligence.

The child’s specific area of disability may be determined first before any treatment is started. Please note that there is no cure for dyslexia even though there are many theories about successful treatment for dyslexia.
